Cabane Vauban, Port du Lude and the Grottes des Mines d'Or

About a 45-minute drive from La Cour de Haut lies one of the most beautiful walking routes along the Normandy coast. The walk starts at the Cabane Vauban Parking (it is a small car park , so arrive early in the afternoon). From here, you walk in a few minutes to the historic Cabane Vauban , a former 17th-century watchtower. From the cliffs, you have a magnificent view of the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel.

Next, follow the coastal path towards Port du Lude , a small pebble beach at the foot of the cliffs. The path winds along the coast and offers beautiful views of the sea time and again along the way.

The route continues to the Grottes des Mines d'Or , natural caves carved into the rocks by wind and sea. The caves are best visible at low tide, allowing you to view the unique rock formations up close. Afterwards, you walk the same route back to the parking lot.

The walk is approximately 6 to 7 kilometers long and takes about two hours. Some parts of the path are steep and uneven, so good walking shoes are recommended.

Our tip: Preferably choose a clear day and check the tides in advance. The Grottes des Mines d'Or are at their most beautiful to visit at low tide, and the views over the bay are at their best.
