Day trip to Granville
Granville is a lively port city on the Normandy coast, about an hour's drive from La Cour de Haut. Stroll through the historic Haute Ville, enjoy the view from Pointe du Roc, and finish with a walk along the harbor and the charming shopping streets.
Granville
Granville is a charming coastal town where history, the sea, and a lively atmosphere come together. Thanks to the historic upper town, the lively harbor, and the beautiful walking opportunities, it is an ideal destination for a day trip from La Cour de Haut.
We advise you to park before 2:00 PM at one of the large car parks near the harbor. It can get busy later in the day, especially during the summer months.
From the harbor, walk through the charming shopping streets to the Haute Ville , the old walled upper town of Granville. Here you will find narrow streets, granite houses, small boutiques, and atmospheric squares. Take your time to stroll around at a leisurely pace and enjoy a cup of coffee or lunch on one of the terraces along the way.
Continue the walk to Pointe du Roc , the very tip of Granville. From the cliffs and the old ramparts, you have a magnificent view of the English Channel, the Chausey Islands, and, in clear weather, the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel.
You then walk back to the parking lot via the harbor. Along the way, you pass fishing boats, yachts, and cozy terraces, giving you a good impression of the city's maritime character.
Do you have some time left? Then pay a visit to the Musée Christian Dior , located in the childhood home of the famous fashion designer. The garden offers a beautiful view of the sea and is certainly worth a visit, even without a great interest in fashion.
